Goan humour-columnist writer Sheela Jaywant’s stories have found their way into anthologies like ‘Quilted – stories of middle-class India’, ‘Liftman and Other Stories’, ‘Indian Voices’, ‘Vanilla Desires’, ‘City of the Gods’, ‘She Writes’, ‘Shell Windows’, ‘Inside Outside’, ‘Carnival’, ‘Bomoicar’ and others. She has written for the Indian Quarterly, RHiME and The Readers’ Digest. Her Marathi-English translations include ‘Ward No. 5 K.E.M.’, ‘The Story of a Marwari’, ‘Opa, Goa, to Cleveland, USA’ and ‘Sangit Bari’. Recent prizes won include DWL- 2017 and the Pallium India ‘Best in Print Media’ 2019. She is on the jury of the Fundacao Oriente Short Story Competition. She has worked in a hospital, presently works as the Administrator of a school complex, is interested in End-of-Life Care, and spends her time wondering how India’s going to tackle its garbage problem.
