Story and art by Suhail Naqshbandi
This is a story from the heart, emerging from the artist Suhail Naqshbandi’s lived experiences. As a Kashmiri political cartoonist, Suhail has faced many stumbling blocks in his career. The biggest issue has always been what he can say through his cartoons and what he cannot. The authorities, the publishers, and even his editors have taken the bite out of his satire. He has tried many ways of circumventing their outright diktats and more subtle censorship measures, but has been left with a deep sense of frustration at not being able to express himself through his art the way he has wanted to.
